Checklist response

Though Checklist Films Ltd and Checklist TV Ltd have not commented on or given any dignity to the false and derogatory claims made recently by John F McDonald both to us and others (in letter form and through social media comments and posts) we wish to make our position clear through revelation of aspects of a letter prepared by our lawyer James Greenslade (www.smb.london) and sent to lawyers acting for Mr McDonald in October 2024.

In respect to the project  ‘The Real Irish’;

‘You have acknowledged in your own letter that your client accepts he has no claim in Irish mythology per se so any film or series that simply draws on characters from that mythology will not infringe your client’s copyright nor in anysense will it involve any theft from your client. Our client has said it has no intention of making any film or series thatinfringes any copyright created by your client. There is no copyright in the idea of a TV film or series based on Irish mythology as such so our client is perfectly entitled to make one. Your client’s allegations are therefore entirely unfounded and highly defamatory of our client.’

In respect to the project ‘The Iron Rose’;

‘As set out above, our client has no intention of using any of the material created by your client for the Iron Roseproject going forward.’

In respect of all matters;

‘Your client’s allegations generally are without foundation.’

‘Contrary to what your client claims, we are instructed that our client has no wish to use any material created by your client. Our client says it no longer wishes to work with your client firstly because his work and attitude to work were not up to the standard our client expects and secondly his conduct, behaviour and attitude on the business trip taken by our two clients to Ireland in January 2024 (as detailed in our client’s letter of 11 March 2024) fell far below the standards of conduct that our client aims to uphold.’
